SSC JHT Recruitment 2026: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the SSC Combined Hindi Translators Examination 2026 notification on 23 April 2026. This recruitment is being conducted for multiple Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts, including Junior Hindi Translator (JHT), Junior Translation Officer (JTO), Senior Hindi Translator (SHT), and Senior Translation Officer (STO) in various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India. Candidates who are interested in language-based government jobs now have a strong opportunity to secure a central government position with good pay and career growth.

As per the official notice, the online application process has started from 23 April 2026 and will continue till 14 May 2026, and candidates are advised not to wait for the last date to apply.

Age Limit (As on 01 August 2026)

Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years. This means applicants should be born between 02 August 1996 and 01 August 2008. Age relaxation is applicable as per government rules for reserved categories.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Hindi or English with the other language as a compulsory or elective subject at the degree level. Additionally, they must have either:

• A recognized diploma/certificate in translation (Hindi ↔ English)
  OR
• 2–3 years of translation experience in government offices, depending on the post

SSC JHT Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection will be done in two stages:

• Paper-I (Computer Based Test) – Objective type (General Hindi & English)
• Paper-II (Descriptive) – Translation + Essay

Final merit will be based on performance in both papers. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks in Paper-I for each wrong answer.

Exam Pattern

Paper-I includes:

• General Hindi – 100 Questions (100 Marks)
• General English – 100 Questions (100 Marks)
• Duration – 2 Hours

Paper-II:

• Translation + Essay Writing
• 200 Marks
• Duration – 2 Hours.
